Originally starting with a builder’s association in 2001, Jennifer quickly discovered her love of the construction industry.  After helping contractors with their safety programs and holding several safety trainings, she immersed herself in the field by becoming a safety manager for a civil engineering contractor.  Jennifer quickly learned the importance of strong relationships and communication with the crews in order to tackle safety challenges together, and ran successful safety departments for two separate general contracting companies over the next fifteen years.

Coming to Royal in 2018 as our Safety Director, Jennifer is responsible for ensuring our teams have all the safety training, resources and support they need to do their jobs well.  Her approach is to engrain safety as an integral part of project planning – similar to planning other resources like manpower, materials & equipment – rather than as a compliance issue separate from the work.  Jennifer has worked to make internal safety training and protocol easy to access and understand, and brings a commonsense approach to safety compliance, focusing on the desired outcome of improved worker safety as the primary concern.

Jennifer leads the team of Safety Managers to be coaches to our field crews.  Additionally, she advocates with our clients and the other trades on the project to keep work sites safe for our teams.  She believes in helping team members internalize best practices that align with Royal’s safety culture and Linking Values (especially Collaboration!).

Jennifer sits on the Los Angeles District Board of Directors and has chaired a variety of committees for the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of California. She’s also Vice Chair of the Union Contractors Council (UCC) and serves on the organization’s Safety Council.

In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys baking with her daughter. She also serves as a board member and volunteer for Honoring Our Fallen, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving our nation’s fallen military and first responders — as well as the families these heroes have left behind — by providing comprehensive support.
