At 8,000 feet Runway 13R-31L is Dallas Love Field’s longest parallel runway. Outliving the design life of a previous rehabilitation in 1990 by falling below the airport’s critical pavement condition index, Flatiron was awarded a $125 million prime contract to reconstruct the runway pavement as well as electrical and drainage systems. Royal Electric Company was subcontracted by Flatiron to upgrade edge and centerline lights, signs, PAPI’s, and associated electrical infrastructure.

Royal’s scope of work included:

  • Blast fence removal
  • ALCMS upgrade
  • Wind cone installations
  • Vault modifications
  • 2″ HDPE directional bore
  • Glide slope and RVR modifications
  • Removal and installation of over 1,000 light fixtures and nearly 100 signs
