Larry got an early start in the industry, pressure-washing trucks and trailers at the age of 12. He moved on to greasing trucks and bottom dumps, checking tire pressure and other side work on weekends. After high school his father put him through welding school, and Larry worked for him building trailers, trucks, and much more. In 1995 he began working for a boat trailer manufacturer, eventually taking over their lead position and improving their output of trailers. Later, he worked for Hasties Capitol Sand and Gravel, and Granite Construction before coming to Royal as a mechanic/fabricator.
Since that time Larry has held a variety of roles in our equipment and mechanic shop, and currently sees himself as a leader who supports the entire Royal family — inside and outside of his team. In addition to handling vehicles, equipment, fabrication, mentoring younger mechanics, and managing his department, he’s also in charge of small tools and Royal’s Sacramento facility. He works hard to keep Royal’s vehicles and equipment in clean working order, running efficiently, and serviced on time for the field crews.
Larry’s expertise and certifications include OSHA 10, Power Stroke Diesel Training Certificate, Air Brake Training Certificate, Reasonable Suspicion Training (from the Department of Transportation), California Air Resources Board MS529 Smoke Test Training Certificate, Cementech Volumetric Mixer Maintenance Training Certificate, Forklift/Material Handler/Man-lift Training, Mobile Air Conditioning Society Training Certificate, First Aid/ CPR Training, and Hazwoper Operations Level II First Responder Training Certificate.
Larry enjoys spending time with family, playing with his pets, riding his Harley Road Bike, going camping and fishing, and working on home improvements.
“I like the family atmosphere here. Royal is a great place to work because there is a camaraderie around here that makes my life easier. We’re all striving for the same thing: succeeding as a team with integrity.”
