As the company’s second longest serving employee you could say that Royal Electric runs in George Halvorsen’s blood. When his family friend and former classmate Bob Bell, Executive Vice President, convinced George to join his upstart electrical contracting business in 1985 the company only had five employees. Although officially hired as a Purchasing Agent, George worked in a variety of areas in the office to support the team. He went on to spend most of his tenure with Royal in the field as an electrician and later a foreman, eventually becoming the lead Superintendent for airport and underground projects in Northern California. George’s outstanding performance was recognized with the award of 1996-1997 Employee of the Year. Several years later he led Royal’s first projects at Sacramento International Airport, Terminal A Apron Lighting and Taxiway A Pavement Reconstruction.
After running work in the field for more than three decades George transitioned into an estimating role in 2020. Then thanks to George’s hard work and Royal’s exceptional growth, we were excited to announce his promotion to Chief Estimator in 2023. In addition to mentoring and managing the estimators on his team, George has also been responsible for developing market strategies focused on building customer relationships to secure new work for Royal. His leadership and experience have been essential in guiding the department’s growth and assessing its structure to optimize bid capacity and schedule. To that end, George plays an active role in the implementation of new software and streamlining of estimating processes. His experience in preconstruction and field management is also key in the development of fabrication and prefabrication cost structures.
An avid water skier in his youth, George now spends the majority of his free time playing golf and soccer.
