Royal Electric Coronavirus Response
Right now, we are all following along closely with the coronavirus updates. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people and countries who have already been hit hard with COVID-19. Our leadership team at Royal will be sending important updates over the next several days but I wanted to provide you with an overview of what we are doing as a company to “flatten the curve,” i.e. preventing people from contracting the virus all at once inundating our health care system. It is important we all do our part to keep our communities, our families, and each other as safe as possible. First, I want to assure you that our company is STRONG, and despite the fear or economic concerns projected in the news, we will continue to grow and thrive. We have a lot of work to build and our estimating teams continue to win more work weekly. Despite the virus, we are excited for the next 18 months and beyond for our team!
We are here to SUPPORT YOU. Information is coming out by the hour, and our team at Royal is following along closely so we can keep you up to date on how this affects you and your work at Royal. We have launched this web page to keep you updated on accurate, timely and easy to access information. We have also set up a text and email notification system in order to reach all employees with information and alerts. If you have any questions about the virus, your specific project, or any rumors you hear, contact us at any time. Let us do the research and find the facts.
To slow the spread of the virus we immediately encouraged all office and administrative personnel to work from home, equipping them with laptops, phones and other resources. Please be patient with each other as working remotely is not always as efficient, Wifi strength varies, and many people have children at home to supervise while schools are out. Realize that response times may be slower, but the Project and Support Operations groups are working hard to continue their support of our field teams.
What does this mean for projects?
Our goal is that all projects can remain WORKING. So far, even in cities that have “Shelter in Place” or “Quarantine” directives, there are exemptions for construction (see Resources below). Again, this can change hour by hour, or be project specific, based on the owner or general contractor. We will continue to keep you updated as we get more information from our clients or educate clients on the information we have that they may not. We are ensuring our offices and job sites have access to hand washing stations, hand sanitizer and other resources needed to stop the spread of the virus. Please try to not share hand tools, cups of coffee or breakfast burritos, and practice good hygiene! Clean your work areas repeatedly. Most importantly, wash your hands often! If you need additional supplies, please contact our HR or Safety teams.
If you or someone you see on the job shows symptoms that concern you, please reach out to our HR team and they can guide you through what to do. Do not spread rumors or false information about anyone on our team or from the other trades on the project. Instead, let us look into it and get to the bottom of it. Our job is to keep you safe and we take it seriously. Please look out for each other during this time and remember we are a team. Our job is to make sure we stay safe, continue building with the expertise and integrity we are known for, and take care of our clients throughout the process. It will seem like information overload for the next few days but bear with us as the situation is very fluid and we have to react to the news and directives from government as we receive it.
I appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication.
